first: i am not sure if this has been suggested before but….

how about taking liquidweather and the beryle\\\’s winter/snow plugin and there have been other type hacks to the snow plugin like the \\\”Autumn\\\” plugin on this site. somehow connecting them and adding other plugins that simulate other weather and based on the weather your desktop reflects the proper weather plugin for beryle-compiz?

i would also like to see some options to the plugin like depth settings i.e. makeing it sno…

Globe Installer V. 0.1
———————–

This is my idea to make a handy drag n drop interface/applet/plasmoid that would let you install things in a very easy way.

The concept is simple:

The RED internal globe: represents the system, the core.
The BLUE outer globe: represents the user space.

I picked two colors (RED and BLUE) but you can imagine another color pair, this doesnt really matters.

The Globe Installer let you drag and drop files into internal (RED) or into oute…

Really I was trying to do this but i dont know if exist the way to do that now. My idea is to mark archives with different colours. For example you want select some archives in a folder to consult or show to one friend the next week or to know if it is a copy or the original or etc.

Panel should be transparent not only for visibility but also for event mouse.
There are many applets witch can only show info - nothing else.
In main panel (with eg. main menu, task list, app icons) I haven\’t enought place for many useful applet wich realtime show infos.

Next impovment is routing panel (90, 270 degree)

Sorry for my bad English

I’ve been thinking about new desktop workflow for a while now — something more object-oriented, where you can link objects together, combining their power, much like piping in a shell.

Any thoughts, ideas, graphics, code, or other contributions would be very welcome!

The idea is to treat everything on the desktop as an objects with properties, much like unix treats everything as files with text. So, contacts would be objects with addresses. Lists of contacts would be just that. Printer…

I would like to see a new approach in Office documents. In the past we used to handle “objects” so we had text and could do something with text, we had an image and could do something with it …
but MS Office 2007 showed that there could be another way of organizing functions especially if they are too many: Organizing functions by functionality.
This would result in another way of working: Now you write the text and format etc. inbetween. In my opinion, it would be more efficient if you firs…

objectives:
- improve menu bar readability/perception
- differentiate clearly between what modifies the whole program and just the current file

cons:
- not quite perfect
- might not be applicable to every program
- inspired by OS X
- I’m a KDE newbie.

#1 - Menu Bar improvements [see attached mock-up]
split the menus in 2 different categories:
- [under program name]: all that’s related to the whole program, that is program settings, profiles, sessions, windows etc.
- [norma…

I think that a new system about installation of new style would be useful :
Currently, if you want to install a new style, or window decoration, what do you have to do ?
Go to kde-look, take a look at the screenshot, download the file, install the package (or build the source, if the right package isn’t available), then launch kcontrol, and select your new theme…

My idea is to create something like when you install a new firefox extension (or like apturl that is coming on gutsy) : A spec…

The idea is to apply rules how to represent information, which proved good in Object Orientend Programming, to the way we build GUIs.

In fact, this means a repositioning of action buttons and a generalisation of them. This allows the user to control every window according to simple patterns.

For example, we should throw a away the concept of tabs and allow the user to tab the windows themselves to create the perfectly fitting application for his job.

The concept is to allow the user to …

Kopete mockup using some of oxygens work. It’s not that clean, and I’m sure I’ve missed things out.You should be able to see that I’d like most of the action buttons close to the input box. Good luck to the kopete team.
