The idea is to apply rules how to represent information, which proved good in Object Orientend Programming, to the way we build GUIs.
In fact, this means a repositioning of action buttons and a generalisation of them. This allows the user to control every window according to simple patterns.
For example, we should throw a away the concept of tabs and allow the user to tab the windows themselves to create the perfectly fitting application for his job.
The concept is to allow the user to …

Select non contiguous texts with “Ctrl” key (like selecting aleatory files in Konqueror file manager) and paste in selected oder.
For all apps. For example: For Konqueror (forms too), Kate, KOffice, etc…
And (in the future, if it is possible) for non KDE apps too (with a “plugin”, like as gtk-engines-qt for GTK apps).

Preview box by default in dialog boxes with “autoplay” option.
To play with a program or another one depending what MIME type are the selected files.
For example: Amarok for audio when Amarok is the program that user it selected as default audio player.
P.S: This screenshot is a mockup. It is not real, it is an example.

Whenever I use instant messengers, I want them to be placed either in the right or in the left, above of all but that other windows are not overlapped by this window.
So I suggest that a new feature should be implemented in kwin: “Dock application”. The only thing “dock application” should do is restricting the screen size when changing window sizes (especially maximizing) so that the window is not overlapped by the docked window.
But docked window should NOT automatically

A simple idea, but I would really like to see it:
There should be a bar with plasmoid names (or something else, for example current time for a clock plasmoid) and when hovering mouse over a name, it would show the plasmoid under it for as long as the mouse is hovering the name or the plasmoid and clicking on them will make them stay visible until clicking again.

(This is only a mockup and I have no idea if this is technically possible)
Kopete could allow to drag n’ drop a contact from the contact list to the desktop or a panel. This action creates a plasmoid which shows the status of these contacts and allows to start a chat, send a mail…
A “Notify me when this contact comes online” option should be nice too.

Here’s how I think the kde4-panel could like. It’s very kickerish, that’s because I never had a problem with kicker, other than the look.
btw: This is my first mockup so don’t be to hard on me.

I like the minimalistic style panel in oxygen mockups.
But it is not very click-effective.
I suggest to make it click-expandable into a much bigger panel, that can house various everyday tools(plasmoids) for fast access.
This way you don’t have to move away any windows to access plasmoids on desktop, and still have enough space to house plasmoids of useful size.
Some ideas what i would like to put in my toolbox:
* a search applet
* a recent documents applet
* ongoing operations …

Mockup of desktop for next KDE or some other.
It’s based on xfce4-like panel, there is no icons on desktop (reserved for plasma widgets).

Remember - this is only a general idea.
